Equipment tracking
Equipment tracking software for field operations
AssetHound tracks physical equipment across distributed crews and sites: every move is confirmed by a scan, every site count reflects equipment that is actually there, and repair, shipment and retirement history stays attached to the item.
Capabilities
Scan-verified movement
Barcode, serial, IMEI or phone number scans stamp who moved the equipment, where, and in what condition at every step.
Site-level stock
Counts per site reflect only equipment physically scanned there, unassigned and in working order.
Transfers and shipments
Pick, pack, ship, deliver and return move through one tracked queue with receiving confirmation at the far end.
Repair and warranty
Broken scans open repair tickets automatically and keep warranty, vendor and repair history on the equipment record.
Governed imports
Carrier, MDM and staffing files stage into a preview with duplicate and conflict checks before touching production records.
Full lifecycle
Procurement, deployment, transfer, repair, replacement and retirement stay on one auditable timeline.
How equipment moves through AssetHound
- 1. Intake — equipment is scanned into a hub or site and confirmed working or broken before it counts as stock.
- 2. Request — crews raise equipment requests that draw from verified stock and track to fulfillment.
- 3. Transfer — pick, pack and ship scans track equipment in transit; receiving requires a scan at the destination.
- 4. Repair or retire — broken returns open repair tickets; retired equipment closes out with full history retained.
Common questions
How does equipment tracking work across multiple sites?
Each site holds its own verified stock. Equipment is scanned when picked, shipped, received, returned or audited, so every site count reflects a physical check rather than a spreadsheet entry.
Can field crews track equipment offline?
Yes. The scan tool works against a cached register and queues scans locally, replaying them in order with conflict review once the device reconnects.
How is broken equipment handled?
Every scan requires a working or broken confirmation. Broken items move to the repair queue with a ticket, warranty lookup and repair history attached to the equipment record.
Does it track shipments between sites?
Shipments, returns and receiving are tracked end to end. Delivery requires a physical scan at the destination, so equipment in transit is never counted as available stock.
