Asset tracking

Asset tracking software built on physical verification

AssetHound tracks laptops, tablets, phones, hotspots and equipment across distributed sites. Field teams confirm devices by scan, IT runs shipping and returns from one queue, and every count traces back to a scan event with an operator, a location and a timestamp.

What the scan tool tracks

Scan-first tracking

Look up any device by asset tag, serial, IMEI, phone number or alternate tag, then record the move in one step — receive, ship, return, transfer, repair or retire.

Location and custody

Every asset carries a current site and holder. Custody changes only through a scan or an identity sign-in signal, never through a bulk file import.

Verified stock counts

Stock on hand reflects devices scanned present, unassigned and working, so shipping decisions are made against reality rather than last quarter's export.

Full movement history

Pick, pack, ship, deliver, receive and return events stay attached to the asset with timestamps, operator and condition at each step.

Condition triage

Scans require an explicit working or broken confirmation. Broken devices open a repair ticket; working devices route to imaging and redeployment.

Bulk and offline scanning

Scan long lists or upload a spreadsheet template for any scan mode, and keep scanning offline with queued replay and conflict review.

A tracked device, end to end

  1. 1. Receive — inbound stock is scanned into the hub, triaged working or broken, and counted only once it is physically present.
  2. 2. Pick and ship — assets are scanned against an open request, packed, and released to carrier custody with tracking retained.
  3. 3. Receive on site — a site scan lands the device, sets its holder, and clears the request that ordered it.
  4. 4. Return or retire — returns, repairs and offboarding recoveries are scanned back in with condition and full history kept.

Common questions

How does scan-based asset tracking work?

Each device is scanned by asset tag, serial, IMEI or phone number at pick, ship, receive, return and audit. Every scan stamps who scanned it, where, and in what condition, so the record reflects a physical check rather than a spreadsheet entry.

Can assets be tracked without a network connection?

Yes. The scan tool works offline against a cached asset register and queues scans locally, then replays them in order with conflict review once the device is back online.

Can we scan many assets at once?

Bulk scanning accepts a pasted or scanned list, or a spreadsheet using the provided template, and runs the same validation, authorization and audit path as single scans.

What counts as verified stock?

Only assets physically scanned at a location, unassigned and in working condition count as available stock. Imported records stay unverified until someone scans them.
